EnerSys revised its planned lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility in Greenville, South Carolina, reducing its initial capacity to 1 gigawatt-hour from an original plan of 4 to 5 gigawatt-hours to focus on aerospace, defense, and specialized industrial applications. The company expects a total net investment of approximately $500 million, supported by a revised $150 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy and up to $200 million in state and local incentives.
